David Love, who has been called “A young master in the making”(Ithaca Times), started performing professionally at the age of 13.  After high school he attended Ithaca College, where he studied Jazz performance with well known jazz guitarist Steve Brown.   Upon graduation he relocated to Austin, TX, where he spent the next 15 years.  While in Austin he became an in-demand and versatile guitarist, performing and recording Rock, Jazz, Blues, and Country with many of Austin’s leading artists.  He also produced over a dozen recordings, both in his own recording studio and at others around Austin.  As a guitarist he is a high energy instrumentalist, adapt at adopting the correct style and inflections for what the particular genre demands.

In addition to his career as a performer, David was also a leading educator in Austin.  He spent ten years teaching at St. Stephen’s Episcopal School, teaching 25-30 students a week as well as founding a jazz guitar ensemble.  Several of his students have gone on to careers in the music business.

Since relocating to New York City in 2013, he has continued to perform and teach, studying with John Abercrombie, Jon Faddis, and Vic Juris.   He earned his Masters in Jazz Performance in 2015, and his public school teaching certification in 2017. He plays both duo and trio jazz as well as leading the David LoveTet, a seven piece jazz/funk ensemble.  He also plays frequently with singer Evangeline Joy  and is the guitarist in Carry that Weight, a group that performs the music of the Beatles. He is currently a music teacher in the New York City public school system.
